The peculiar church

Had some financial issues I had to face today.

I was pretty stressed, obviously. But then, after an hour or more, I have finally calmed down.

Walking home, I was asking God, “Lord, lagi nalang. During stressful days, I get this weird sense of silence in my heart. Don’t I just care enough? Normal people would be spending sleepless nights already if this happened to them.”

And then God reminded me of what I learned during the Leaders’ Convergence last 30 June 2018.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

1 Peter 2:9 KJV

Note there how it says “peculiar people

The people of God are different!

We are different.

We don’t conform to the ways of the world.

  • We forgive – unlimitedly (is that even a word?)
  • We let go – with great peace in our hearts)
  • We love – unceasingly, even when it becomes hard

At that moment, God whispered to me that it’s okay. I’m okay. That even though I am peculiar, this comes from the fruit of the Spirit that He is growing in me.

As our Prayer and Fasting ends, I encourage you to continue chasing the Word of God.

Has the fruit of the Spirit manifested in you already? Are you as peculiar as God is calling you to be?

If you have already given your life to Christ, this is a call for you to be different because that is how God has designed you to be. And from being different, people will see the glory and the greatness of God.

Lord, thank you for today.

Thank you for making me a part of your peculiar people. That in the face of troubles and adversaries, You are the one who is protecting my joy, peace and identity.

I pray that the people in your kingdom will fully immerse themselves in the transformation that only YOU provide.

The old has gone and the new has come.

I know Lord God that as Your people will get to know You more and more, Your transforming grace will change their hearts.

Through the Holy Spirit, you will enable them so that people will see a peculiar church: a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen and amen
