I found myself with some me time today.
I think I haven’t had one for days – or probably weeks. So this is a great reminder especially to an introverted person like me that in as much as you put yourself in the service of others, you also put yourself as a priority.
Because you can only give what you do have, right?
And right now, I feel like I don’t have enough to give to the blog. That’s why I missed another post.
By Tuesday, five people have already asked me about Captivated Child. One of them asked how my heart is.
I was too ashamed to say that it was at a disarray.
I just haven’t been feeling myself lately. I blame it to the lack of quality Me Time.
But I’m getting back on my feet now and I’m taking my time.
I guess one thing I’ve learned in the past days was seeing how hard I beat myself up some days.
You haven’t done this and done.
You’re not this and that.
You did this when you should’ve have done that.
The mental dialog just gets so exhausting sometimes that instead of bringing myself up, I am pulling myself down!
So the real lesson here is to treat yourself as a friend.
Would you have battered your friend for an unproductive hour? NO
Would you have bullied your friend for never being enough? CERTAINLY NOT!
Would you have treated your friend with less love than they deserve? OF COURSE NOT!!!
So let’s be a friend to ourselves.
Let’s pat ourselves in the back for a job well done, no matter how small it is.
Let’s treat ourselves to a nap on a Saturday chore day.
Let’s give ourselves the break we deserve.
And then we can go back to giving a part of ourselves to the world.
