All hell broke loose on your work today and you arrive at work with tons of deadlines to meet. But wait! You still have to do thus admin work and wait for errors to be corrected on reports due in an hour. What a chaotic day indeed!
Some days could be this troublesome. On most days like these, you let yourself be so worked up. You feel like the joy in you has been sucked out and you find happiness on a cup of coffee, a bite of chocolate, a slice of Jollibee Chicken Joy.
Now the day is over and you are still feeling down. You have tried chasing every possible thing to make it a better day except chasing God.
Today, I urge you to look into the Bible. Look for a Psalm that can ease the way you are missing someone right now. Let go of worry about your finances. Let God heal you from a broken heart. Welcome God into your day as you let go of your disappointments. Seek His Word and find that all the reassurance you have been longing for is in Him.
As I went about my day, I was reminded to look into Psalm 27:13-14 and oh, what gem I found in this scripture!
I read and reread in various translations.
THE LORD IS MY LIGHT AND MY SALVATION
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. One thing have I asked of the Lord , that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord . Hear, O Lord , when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord , do I seek.” Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in. Teach me your way, O Lord , and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord ; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord !
Psalms 27:1-14 ESV
What beautiful Words indeed and this verse jumped out from the whole chapter:
One thing have I asked of the Lord , that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.
Psalms 27:4 ESV
And I immediately asked a friend why I don’t see most people having life verses centered on the intimacy with God.
Mine was Jeremiah 29:11:
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
This is a verse holding so many promises and this is the pattern of most of our life verses.
I asked myself, was I created for God to shower me with blessings?
My purpose is more than that.
My purpose is to be with God.
We love Him because He first loved us.
1 John 4:19
In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God created him; male and female He created them.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people
What an amazing revelation!
Today, I share with you this momentous event of my life.
Here’s to a new life verse:
One thing have I desired of the Lord , that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord , and to enquire in his temple.
Psalms 27:4 KJV
