Letting go of the perfectionist in me this 2018 – Part 3

I started 2018 full anxieties and the Annual Prayer and Fasting brought deliverance out of these worries. God also used this time to set my pace this year.

My dreams and desires were brought to alignment with God’s plans. This is the last of a series of lessons I learned in 2018

I started this series wanting to highlight the lessons I’ve learned this year.

One common theme appeared as I summarized my 2018.

See previous posts here:

LESSON 1: I learned to let go of expectations

LESSON 2: I learned not to plan too much

As we start the year, I’d like to share the last abd biggest lesson of all.

LESSON 3: I learned that you can’t put your plans ahead of God

I started 2018 full anxieties and the Annual Prayer and Fasting brought deliverance out of these worries. God also used this time to set my pace this year.

My dreams and desires were brought to alignment with God’s plans.

Because remember what the Proverbs say in verse 16:3 (NIV) :

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

I was grateful for this time of recommitment with God and I am blessed to have been put in a community that honors this corporal tradition.

As months passed, I was surprised how God accelerated some items in my bucket list that had the vaguest place in my time table.

He made me a Victory Group Leader and He started my blog.

What surprised me though was how He slowed down my Plans ABCs.

During my time of waiting, I slowly bowed down to His plans.

My prayers this year consisted of “Yes God, if you want it next year, let your will be done.”

This isn’t easy for a planner like me.

From my previous post, I sampled to you how easy it is to let go of daily plans. But how about my life long plans Lord?

Writing about it now, I am gripped by a sense of fear.

But as I hold unto God’s promises that He will not leave me nor forsake me:

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6

That God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind in 2 Timothy 1:7

And lastly, His command to commit your way to the Lord in Psalm 37:5, I am emboldened to walk through life knowing that a man may plan his way, but the Lord directs his way.

As 2019 starts, I am excited to put God before me this year.

Share your learnings below and what commitment are you making with God this year.

Love you all,
His Captivated Child
